Executive Management Team

Ray Hood

Chief Executive Officer

Ray Hood is an experienced executive who brings a wealth of experience and leadership that will help Qumu leverage an exciting market opportunity. He previously built an organization with sales and service operations in fourteen countries, development operations in three countries, and customers in all major markets around the world. Ray serves on the Board of Directors of OneNetwork, a demand/supply chain solution provider and on the Executive Board of Advisors at the SMU School of Engineering. He is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and started his career with Price Waterhouse as a public accountant.

Claude Dupuis

Vice President, Engineering

Claude Dupuis joins Qumu with extensive technical experience in video, voice and data technologies and has led multiple product introductions across a variety of markets—from enterprise and telecom to cable and satellite. Most recently, Claude served as the senior vice president of engineering in Ericsson’s multimedia business unit where he was responsible for the development of video compression products for IPTV and mobile markets for the Tandberg Television division of the company. Prior to his tenure at Ericsson, Claude led the engineering team for SkyStream Networks, a Sunnyvale-based private company, which was acquired by Tandberg Television. In this role, he managed rapid growth from one to four product lines—each requiring multiple product releases per year. He also served as senior vice president of engineering at Premisys (acquired by Zhone), where he ran the company's R&D labs in the U.S. and Canada. He has also held a variety of engineering and technical management positions for Nortel and Bell Northern Research. Claude received his Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ottawa.

Scott Safe

Vice President, Product Strategy and Marketing

Scott Safe brings more than 20 years of successful marketing leadership to Qumu, gained from achievements with both well-recognized companies and early stage firms in Silicon Valley. Prior to joining Qumu, Scott successfully built brand awareness, led product management and developed channel programs as vice president of marketing for Network Physics Inc., a network and application traffic monitoring appliance vendor acquired by OPNET Technologies, Inc. Previously, as the Director of Business Development and Channels at SteelEye Technologies (acquired by SIOS Technologies) and Manage.com, Scott established the business development and channel partner relationships of these early stage startups. He has also held senior marketing positions at Adomo, Inc. and Hewlett-Packard where he began his career in various product and marketing roles, instrumental in the success and evolution of HP’s marketshare leading OpenView program. Scott earned his MBA in finance and marketing from Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business in Dallas and a Bachelor of Science in business information systems/computer science from University of Colorado at Boulder.

David Bukhan

Vice President, Technology

David Bukhan is responsible for the development and management of Qumu technology, including software and product development. David brings more than 22 years of technology experience to Qumu with his primary focus being on the development of highly scalable enterprise video streaming applications. He previously held management positions at Inktomi and eScene Networks, where he helped develop the original Qumu software application. David is a graduate of Moscow University.

Scott Smith

Vice President of Sales

Scott Smith leads Qumu's worldwide sales, business development and field operations teams. He brings more than 25 years of leadership experience with software, technology and consulting services businesses, which he gained with Fortune 500 companies like Oracle, as well as several high growth technology firms. Most recently, Scott served as vice president of sales at MarketLive, a leading SaaS eCommerce solution. Previously, at Convergent Communications, Scott was instrumental in raising over $260 million in capital during its startup phase. Scott also founded his own consulting firm that specialized in establishing new technology markets and joint ventures between Asian and U.S. companies. Scott earned an MBA in finance from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a BA in History from Wheaton (IL) College.

Rob Stubblefield

Vice President of Finance

Rob Stubblefield is responsible for finance, accounting and administrative operations, including human resources and facilities. Rob brings over 20 years of professional experience to Qumu, the last 10 of which have been with technology companies. He began his career in public accounting, providing accounting and audit services to a variety of commercial and not-for-profit entities and assisted them in identifying and implementing improvements in accounting controls and operating procedures. Following that, he held finance and accounting management positions in fast paced, rapidly changing, public companies involving large scale reorganizations and mergers where it was necessary to design and implement metrics, processes, and reports to closely manage the business and maximize results. He is a C.P.A. and holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in accounting.

Alex Mendez

Alex Mendez is a founding general partner of Storm Ventures. He was an investor and CEO/Chairman of Sanera Systems (acquired by McData) and served on the McData Board of Directors until 2007. He was also an investor/Board Member of Airespace (acquired by Cisco). His investment focus is on wireless, data centers (computing & storage) and software (Web 2.0 & Enterprise). Prior to founding Storm Ventures in October 2000, Alex spent twenty-one years in high tech at ROLM, IBM, Stratacom, and Cisco, holding several executive positions, most recently as an SVP/GM at Cisco. He was part of the founding team of Stratacom which Cisco acquired in 1996. Alex holds a BSEE from Stanford University, and a M.B.A. from Santa Clara University (he serves on the Advisory Board of the GSB). He likes to golf, travel, ski, and speaks both Spanish and German fluently.

Wes Raffel

Wes Raffel is General Partner with Advanced Technology Ventures. Wes joined ATV in 1999 and focuses on investments in cleantech and infrastructure. His representative investments include Anagran, Apprion, CaliSolar, Nuventix, Omneon, PacketDesign, Qumu, Redline Networks (acquired by Juniper Networks NASDAQ: JNPR), and Sub-One Technology. Prior to ATV, Wes served as Vice President of Sales and General Manager at Informix Software where he was last responsible for the Company's Web and e-commerce business. He held positions as acting CEO and Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at AssureNet Pathways, which was acquired by Axent Technologies. He also was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Global Village Communications, where he grew revenue from zero to over $100 million in three years. Wes spent nearly 10 years of his career with 3Com in various sales and marketing roles, lastly driving the rapid growth of its non-European international business as the Vice President of Intercontinental Operations. Wes holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.A., Cum Laude, from Harvard College.

David Hartwig

David Hartwig is a partner of SAP Ventures where he focuses on enterprise product and services investments and is an advisor on the Qumu Board. He has over 10 years of investment experience, working previously as a vice president at American Capital, and a sr. associate at Battery Ventures. David also worked at Deloitte Consulting, where he led software rollout and operational redesign projects. He has an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BSE from Princeton University.

We achieved many milestones in 2007, which included record revenues for the year, the addition of key F100 customers, recognition by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in America, and the addition of key industry veterans to the executive team.
